What is Bed-Stuy Bounty?
Bed-Stuy Bounty is a private food buying club that offers organic, local, and fair trade foods in bulk to its members.
How does it work?
Bed-Stuy Bounty uses www.Wholeshare.com to place and manage orders. Members create an account and add items to their shopping cart. When the order minimum for the entire group is met, everyone’s order will be placed by the order deadline at the same time, members will be charged, and the order will be delivered within the same week.
Members have buyer choice, meaning they can order what they want as single items or in bulk.

Are there any fees involved? What does it cover?
Yes, visit our membership page to view membership options. Because the buying club orders directly from the distributor, everything is delivered as one order. The membership fee covers the logistics of receiving, storing, breaking down, and packing members’ orders, as well as covering the costs of marketing and advertising, and other administrative costs.
Is there an order minimum?
Yes. There is a group order minimum that varies by seller. As a member, you can spend as much or as little as you’d like.
What happens if the order minimum is not met?
If the seller’s order minimum is not met, a delivery will not be made that week. Your items will remain in your shopping cart (based on your account preferences) until the order minimum is met.
How is this different from a co-op?
A co-op, short for cooperative, is member-owned and operated. Co-op members have voting rights and make collective decisions for the co-op. Members also contribute to the labor needs of running the co-op to keep overhead costs low. Bed-Stuy Bounty is a privately-owned, for-profit community food enterprise.
Members do not have voting rights, (but they can offer feedback and guide the direction of the buying club) they are not involved in the decision-making process as it relates to the business, and there are no labor requirements for members.
What can I purchase from Bed-Stuy Bounty?
A wide selection of staples are available for purchase, mostly in bulk, including milk, fresh and frozen produce, eggs, bread, cheese, beef, pork, poultry, fish and seafood, pasta, condiments, flour, grains, legumes, beverages, pickled and fermented vegetables, tofu, tempeh, seitan, nuts, seeds, nut butters, oils, vinegar, and much more.
Are organic options available?
Bed-Stuy Bounty’s philosophy believes in creating and maintaining a local food system that supports small farmers, everywhere. Organic doesn’t always mean local, and organic doesn’t necessarily convey high quality or pesticide-free (large corporate organic farms use organic pesticides, fungicides, and herbicides).
That said, Yes, organic options are available. Organic options will always be labeled as such, and you’ll have the option to search and shop exclusively for organic options.
How does bulk buying work? What if I don’t want to purchase an entire bulk item?
When you login to Bed-Stuy Bounty’s Wholeshare.com group, you will see that most of the items are listed in bulk. This is how savings are passed on to you. You have a choice to decide to buy the entire bulk item or split the bulk item with other members. For example, you may wish to purchase apple juice. The apple juice is being offered by the case, but you only want three bottles. You can split the case and add three bottles to your cart.
Members will see that you have split the case and can buy the remaining bottles. If the entire case is not sold by the time the order is placed, you will not receive your apple juice and the split will remain open and in your cart until the entire case is bought out.
Where do I pick up my order?
Pickup locations are selected at the time of membership. Please visit the membership page to view pickup locations.
What happens if I can’t make the pickup time?
You can arrange for someone to pickup your order on your behalf. Otherwise, you will have to arrange for a pickup at another time.
Do you deliver?
Yes, within Bed-Stuy for a fee. Delivery is only available on the day of distribution, unless arrangements have been made in advance.
Do you accept food stamps?
No. SNAP benefits/food stamps can not be used to pay for online purchases.
Can you purchase items the day of pickup?
At this time, you can not purchase items on pickup days. Items must be paid for in advance.
What if I’m unhappy with my membership?
You can leave the buying club at anytime. Refund requests must be made within sixty days of joining. Refimds will be given minus a $40 administrative fee. No refunds will be given after sixty days. No refunds will be given for discounted memberships.
